It’s easy to go island hopping in the South Funen Archipelago from Faaborg Harbour. You can take the bus and get off at the “Banegårdspladsen” stop – or park your car right at the harbour. Parking is free.

Morning on Lyø – Peaceful nature and island heritage

  • Departure: Faaborg 10:00 → Arrival: Lyø 10:40

Highlights:

  • Klokkestenen – a large prehistoric boulder with ancient carvings
  • Vindtelefonen – “the wind phone”, where you symbolically call the departed
  • Bjerget – a scenic 2–3 km hiking trail with coastal views

Afternoon on Avernakø – Local culture and scenic cycling

  • Departure: Lyø 14:40 → Arrival: Avernakø 15:10

Highlights:

  • Two islands in one: Avernak and Korsholm, connected by the Drejet causeway
  • 8 km cycling route with panoramic views
  • Visit Avernakø By:
    • Cosy farm shops
    • The historic country inn
    • The colourful maypole, symbol of local tradition
